Free Food Fall Frag 2005 Follow-up | |
|
|
The Free Food Fall Frag 2005 has officially come to an end. The BAPCG would like to thank everybody involved with the event. Overall the event was a big success, despite a few power issues in the beginning everything went great! We had an unofficial attendance of 35 gamers with a new record of 30 gamers in one game at a time! All 24 feet of the party sub arrived Saturday afternoon and was gone sometime early Sunday morning. Please keep looking for details on our next event some time this winter.

That's right, FREE food (Saturday night), FREE LAN and did I mention free?
As usual it's going to be another three day bash starting Friday October 14th at about 7PM. The LAN peaks Saturday night only to tear down late Sunday morning. We have room, food (subs), power and network equipment for 60 people so first come first served.
Let us make this clear, it's all about the hardcore gaming and the free subs FOR LANNERS ONLY (Saturday night only). You're on your own for Friday night (supply your own POP for the weekend). You can sleep in the Fire Hall if you sleep.
This is another LAN hosted at the Ideal Corners Town Hall / Fire Hall. No registration / no cover.
The games we plan on playing are:
Battlefield Series
Some Doom3, America's Army, UT2K4, Quake 3
Warcraft 3 or RTS Mix
The games we don't plan on playing are:
Any form of CS or HL (Maybe some HL2 if people have it)

A REAL LIVE LAN PARTY! -- February 25-27. Not many people showed up last time (of course), but we had a lot of fun. We got the location with a bit more notice, this time, so we're printing posters and making some noise.
This is another LAN at the Ideal Corners Town Hall / Fire Hall. No registration / no cover. lanparty@bapcg.org

| | Announcing our next event: The BAPCG Last-Minute LAN 2005! | |
|
|
LAN! (dammit!!!) - January 14, 15, 16. We came up with a novel concept for this LAN - we got the location with practically no notice! We're horribly LAN-needy, though, so I guess we'll focus on gaming intensity... bring speakers and let's make it sound like a warzone.
This is at the Ideal Corners Town Hall / Fire Hall, at the intersection of Butternut Point Rd & County Hwy 16, like last time. No registration and no cover charge. We have space and electricity for 60 computers. Battlefield 1942, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, America's Army, Quake 3, and such. Deposit questions here.

|
|
The Brainerd Area PC Gamers are excited to announce our next LAN party on January 30th, 31st, and the 1st of February 2004. We will open the doors at 5:00 PM on Friday and the gaming won't stop until Sunday evening. This event will be held at our new location, the Ideal Corners Town Hall / Fire Hall, at the intersection of Butternut Point Rd & County Hwy 16. Along with this new location we are also proud to announce that we are lowering admission back to just $5! There will be no online registration for this event, as there has been in the past: it's first come, first serve with a capacity of 60 computers. We plan on playing Battle Field 1942, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, America's Army, Quake 3, and more. More info will be posted as the LAN approaches. Request more info as the LAN approaches.

| | Announcing our next event: Fall Frag 2003 | |
|
|
We are proud to announce the upcoming LAN party on September 12th, 13th, and the 14th. We open our doors at 5:00 PM on Friday and the gaming won't stop until Sunday around 8:00 PM. There have been many changes over the past few months; we now have a much larger location with more than enough power and gaming space, and tournaments will be organized and hosted differently. Tournament sign up starts right away Friday so be sure to gather your teams, sign-up, and practice. We are planning on having seating and network for 108 people so we have lots of room for you and any friends you wish to bring. In order to attend the event you will be required to signup individually (not as a group) and then confirm your registration by replying to the email we send you after signing up. We plan on playing Battle Field 1942, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, America's Army, Half Life-CS and more. More info will be emailed to the registrants as the LAN approaches.

| | Announcing our next event: Spring Break LAN 2003 | |
|
|
The dates for the next event are
April 4th, 5th and 6th. The LAN is starting at 5:00 PM sharp on Friday. The best
time to come is Friday that way you can be part of the tournaments and get your
money's worth for all three days.
Also there are a few changes that are currently under way with the Nisswa Community
Center. Right now it is under construction but it should be completed by April or
far enough along to host our LAN. They are remodeling the center to give it almost
twice the room as before, and that’s good news for us, as we will soon enjoy a
larger facility for our LAN parties.
As for the upcoming LAN we have resolved our power issues, and will have plenty of
power for everyone. That includes the systems that have over-clocked cpus and 500
watt power supplies. The tournaments we plan on hosting include:
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Quake3 & Counter Strike.

| | Registration and Price Changes | |
|
|
Having almost more gamers than seats available at the Winter Wonder-LAN event has brought about the need for us to require registration of our guests. From this point on, attendees who do not contact BAPCG will not be guaranteed a seat. The plan is have registration for 60 seats, with the addition of 5 stand-by seats available in the event of no shows. Registrants will be required to provide BAPCG with a phone number where they can be reached to confirm their attendance. Any empty seats will then be awarded to the stand-by registrants. Registration will be online through our website.
Due to an increase in operational costs, BAPCG will be forced to charge $10 for our events in the future. We have avoided this for as long as we could, but the change is necessary. The cover charge does still include all three days.

| | Winter Wonder LAN Success! | |
|
|
The setup began at noon, and we were done and ready for the guests to arrive by six pm.
We realized just what power word of mouth advertising has, when someone came to the center around noon, and asked if there was a LAN here. We replied with a yes, but told him to come back in a few hours. The guy went on to explain that “some guy in a red car” told him there was a LAN here.
The people started arriving right on time at seven, and boy did they ever come! At any given moment we had at least 50 computers set up. At the peak we were astonished to find that there were 64 computers there at one time! Our last LAN event netted only 34 computers, so we were glad to see such an increase in attendance.
Despite some power problems, the LAN went well. The Quake 3 tournament was a blast, as well as the Return to Castle Wolfenstein tournament. We did, however, make the mistake of holding the Counterstrike tournament on Sunday, and there were simply not enough gamers left to hold a decent match. We have learned from our mistakes and will be making some changes in the future.
At the conclusion of the LAN, attendees were asked to fill out a questionnaire, to help us with some things for the next LANs, such as what games people would like to play, how the tournaments went, and more. The results have been tallied, and the gears are turning at BAPCG to make some changes, based on the results. Thanks goes out to those who filled out the questionnaire, your input will help make our LANs that much better.
